The Rabbits Section

The Rabbits are those golfers with handicaps between 18.5 and 28.  We are not the best golfers and although we all hope to play better one day we relish the unashamed view that our section has the most fun.

It’s a pretty varied group of all ages – some who clearly have good potential and are in transit to the lower handicap sections, then there are those steady guys who if they just practised more could aspire to better things and finally there are the rest of us who can do it once or twice a year (that’s the golf of course) but are basically here for the fun, the exercise and the good company.

We have our own section competitions through the winter and the summer.  These are singles knockouts, pairs knockouts and the eclectic – where you aim to accumulate your best aggregate score over 6 months.  We also have a spring and autumn competition, which are qualifying competitions for handicap purposes and a year round birdie competition.

We have a full programme throughout the year of matches with neighbouring clubs and also competitions with the other sections and with the juniors – which is always a lesson.  Oh how we wish we’d started earlier!!

We also have a couple of additional golfing events - the Rabbits Invitation day in September where we invite other clubs and where members can bring a partner from another club.  Then there is the Away Weekend at a destination of the Captains choice.

Our main social events are the Rabbits Section Ladies Night – a chance to say thanks to the ladies who support us.  And the year is finally closed off with the AGM where we present prizes to those who have been more successful than others and we welcome in the new Captain.

Please look at the Rabbits Notice Board in the lower section of the locker rooms.  This has notices on current competitions, competition rules, upcoming interclub matches and other notices.
